A few quick steps can save a lot of damage. Never put yourself at risk.
!Turn off the water at your stopcock. It’s usually under the kitchen sink or where the water pipe enters the house.
!Keep away from electrics if they’re wet. If water is near sockets or lights, only switch off at the fuse box if you can reach it safely and it’s dry.
!Turn off your boiler and heating, then open your cold taps to drain the water left in the pipes.
!Catch the water and move valuables. Use buckets and towels, and keep clear of any ceiling that’s sagging.
!Take photos and videos of the damage – useful for your insurer, and you can WhatsApp them to us.
